We heard from students about what life is like in CPS. There seems to be a lot of community-school cooperation, but there are issues of communication between students and faculty and administration. Many students don't feel the teachers listen to them; sometimes the teachers don't get the whole story and they make assumptions about the students that aren't true.
Students suggested social media, particularly Instagram as ways to communicate with students. We need faculty who can relate to students who learn in different ways.
Specific issues:
Needs to be a plan for when students return from suspension so they can get caught up.
How can we build trust between student and faculty and families?
Concern about good teachers who leave. We have good data about which teachers succeed. How can we use these data to improve the classroom interactions?
